Cheryl Mackian The Market Gallery's Featured Artist Show for the New Year, opening on Art By Night, Friday, Jan. 5, 5:30-9:00 pm, displays new work by in pastel and oil by Valerie Alessi, Rebecca Hurt, and Cheryl Mackian. In addition to the Featured Artists show, the Market Gallery is offering a Theme show, Winter, by our other member artists. The shows hang from January 2--February 24, 2018. The Market Gallery, a regional artists’ cooperative, is located on Roanoke’s historic downtown market, at 23 Salem Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24011. Hours: 10 am to 5:30 pm Tuesday - Saturday.     The Shenandoah Valley Art Center, during the month of December, is exhibiting in the Cabell/Arehart Gallery the Annual Winter Contemporary Juried Exhibition: Subversive/Domestic Textile and Fiber, a collection of cutting edge textile and fiber pieces by American and Canadian artisans. The artists shove boundaries aside while honoring the traditional needle and thread. The exhibition is December 2 – January 20 with the opening on December 9, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The public is encouraged to come and meet the artists. In the Members’ Gallery, the theme is Small Works, presenting a variety of media and creative ideas by SVAC member artists. These are small unique pieces ready for purchase and suitable for holiday gift giving.
